Top 3

Sweet baby Yeezus I can’t believe I haven’t written anything since May!
Mind you, I wasn’t doing anything more important or exciting, I was simply being lazy. Oh well. I wanted to do a post about the Golden Globes, but it’s been 6 days and I’m over it. Everyone looked fabulous, except for Jane Fonda (We get it, you’re 77 and look great. Stop dressing like a slut) and my girl Lana (Mermaid chic is NOT a thing) and Keira Knightly and Rosamund Pike…ok a lot of people looked like shit, but you can do your own researching if you need hard evidence (E!Online, Celebuzz). Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Also, George Clooney’s speech was perfection and I almost cried. Ok I’m done. Onto the Top 3…

3. Great Movies
So this kind of has to do with the Golden Globes…Oh well. SO MANY MOVIES!! It’s like Oprah was giving away screen plays in 2014 (more like 2012 when production started) and brilliant actors were getting their shit together. Unfortunately I haven’t seen most of this year’s nominations/winners because I’ve been too busy watching Criminal Minds and starting projects that I don’t plan on finishing. Fortunately this gives me something to do for the next few weeks (days) and I can make some use out of On Demand (sorry about the charges mom) and my Regal Crown Club card that I have zero understanding of. Which ones am I most excited to see? Boyhood looks amazing and I love Ethan Hawke, plus Richard Linklater spent 12 years producing the film so it deserves to be watched by everyone. I’m also excited about Wild, Birdman, Saint Vincent, Selma, The Theory of Everything, Cake, Inherent Vice…ok I basically want to see all of them. There’s also a lot of new movies coming out in theaters soon that I need to see like American Sniper. I know what I’ll be doing for the rest of this disgusting winter.

2. Makeup (it’s not so scary)

I’ve always been one of those girls who didn’t really wear makeup, aside from the occasional mascara or lipstick. Before you roll your eyes, let me state that this is not one of those “oh I just don’t need makeup because my face is perfect and life is fabulous” situations. Not even close. I just never knew how to do it. I once wore blue eyeshadow to school when I was 13. Needless to say, I was scarred. I guess the wound has healed because as of late I’ve really been getting into the whole looking-presentable-for-life thing. Hours and hours of Youtube videos later (seriously, there are SO many about makeup) I started to attempt to create a “look” for myself. I’m still working on it, baby steps ok? But as of right now I’m working on brown eyeliner (more natural look) pressed into my lash line, filling in my brows and using a highlighter. It’s all I can handle right now and I think I’m doing pretty well if I do say so myself. Meaning, no one has given me the look of death…yet.

1. My Shows Are Back
I hate, no, I ABHOR the fact that cable tv shows go on hiatus during the holiday season. Sorry but I really don’t want to hang out with my family and I’m not working, so this would be the PERFECT time to air new episodes. Apparently I’m the only one who thinks so. Alas, the holidays are over and my shows (most of them) are back. I have New Girl, Mindy, About a Boy, MasterChef Jr. and Parks & Rec (FINALLY) back on Tuesdays (thank Yeezus for DVR); Criminal Minds, Modern Family, Workaholics and Broad City on Wednesdays; Thursdays are for DVR’d shows; and Shark Tank to wrap up the week on Friday! Even the weekends keep me going with SNL on Saturday (duh) and Girls on Sunday night. All is good again. And it’s nice to have something new to look forward to besides sleep…

Golden Globes 2014

Unfortunately, the Golden Globes were on this past Sunday, which was when I came home from a weekend in Philadelphia with my girlfriends, i.e., I was passed out in my bed from 5-11pm. However, I obviously watched all the coverage of the fashion on the red carpet in order to see the best and worst dressed. I also read a billion buzzfeed articles about the hilarious moments, awkward speeches, and anything/everything J.Law did (apparently “Lawrencing” is a thing now?). So I think that I got a pretty good feel for what was happening while I was sprawled out with my heated blanket. Here are my picks for best dressed:

Emma Roberts Lanvin

Emma Roberts is to die for in this Lanvin gown. It’s so simple and shows how much she’s matured over the years. Some of her older counterparts should take a lesson in fashion and composure.

kate beckinsale Zuhair Murad

At first I thought Kate Beckinsale was wearing some sort of futuristic lamé gown. Upon closer review, i.e., google imaging, I realized that Zuhair Murad was right on point with this piece. It flatters every one of Kate’s amazing curves, and the dark charcoal color allows it to stand out without being in your face.

Jennfier dior

I don’t care what people say, I thought Jennifer Lawrence ROCKED it in her Dior gown. If you can appreciate true, high-end fashion, then you can appreciate this structured piece. Paired with her new, edgy pixie cut and bold lip, JLaw looks better than ever.

Lupita Nyong'o Ralph

Hi Lupita Nyong’o, you’re fabulous and I’m obsessed with you. While she walked away without the award for Best Supporting Actress, she was still part of the Best Drama Award winning, “12 Years A Slave,” and was named the style star of the season in her Ralph Lauren Cape. Personally, I think they should have just brought her up on stage so everyone could look at her.

Olivia Gucci

Just because you’re pregnant doesn’t mean you have to look like a hot mess. A lot of stars dressed up their baby bump fabulously on the red carpet this year, but Olivia Wilde did the best job. Her choice of a curve hugging, sequined Gucci gown shows off her amazing body and adorable baby bump. The color also goes great with her ombre hair and fair skin. A win for the pregnant ladies out there!

My absolute favorite, favorite, FAVORITE outfit of the night was worn by non other then Emma Watson.

Emma W Dior

At first it’s just a simple Dior gown with a high slit, then wait, what’s that? OH IT’S ACTUALLY A TOP?! Yeah. That happened. When I saw the back of this amazingness, my mouth dropped. A gown/shirt? Has it ever happened before? It has now, and I loved every second of it.

Unfortunately, not everyone dressed their best at the GG this year…

aubrey Plaza oscar de la renta

I’m not sure what Aubrey Plaza or Oscar De La Renta were thinking about when they saw this gown, but whatever it was, it was wrong. It looks like something you would wear on Easter. Well, it looks like something your mom would buy for you to wear on Easter, but you would refuse.

dianne wiest

Honestly, if Dianne Wiest pulled her straps up onto her shoulders, this wouldn’t be so bad. But she didn’t. So it is.

Reese Calvin

This one isn’t so bad either, but it’s also far from great. Reese Witherspoon is so gorgeous and could probably pull anything off, but instead, she chose this dull Calvin Klein dress. It looks like a mixture of a prom dress and…another prom dress. It just does nothing for her, thus does nothing for me.

Paula Patton Stephanie Rolland

There was a lot going on on Paula Patton’s body on Sunday. The Stephanie Rolland gown, fabric waterfall, peeking shoes and huge earrings just don’t go together. The fabric waterfall goes with nothing. Nothing.

So that’s it for the 2014 Golden Globes. There were plenty of other fabulous and horrendous outfits that you can see at E! online or Huffpost Style.

Golden Globes

I know I’m two days late, but I needed a day to let it all sink in, plus I have this thing I like to call a job. While I spent the first part of the Globes flipping between the speeches and the season premiere of HBO’s Girls (which was amazing), I still managed to get a glimpse at all of the amazing gowns and the less than par frocks that were flaunted on the red carpet. Here are some of my favorites:

Katherine McFee

One of my favorite outfits of the night! The plunge is super sexy without being skanky and the sleek black keeps it classy. My only hesitation is the length. Had it been a few inches longer, she would have been absolute perfection.

Nicole Richie

Isla Fisher

Hayden Panettiere

Kaley Cuoco

While Cuoco’s makeup could be a little less harsh, she still looks fabulous in this nude gown.

Lea Michele

I really don’t like Lea Michele…at all, but she is killing it in Elie Saab.

Zooey Deschanel

70th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

I am one of the few brunettes that can just NOT pull off red. Anything more than a red lip makes me look blotchy and pale. Zooey looks breathtaking in this gown, and the simple pearls pull it all together into a chic ensamble.

And of course, some that actually hurt my eyes to look at:

Why Hallie Berry, WHY?

The 90’s called. They don’t even want their music video-esque fabric back.

Emily Mortimer

How much do clothes cost in the Matrix? (if you can name that movie, I will love you forever)

Nene Leakes

Anna Gunn
