3. 25 Is Quickly Approaching
Um, I’m 100% not ready to be 25 years old. I can’t even clean out my coffee mug at the end of the day; how am I supposed to be a real person? With this new found knowledge that my birthday is in less than 3 weeks, I’ve decided that I want to attempt to get my shit (semi) together. I made a budget. WHAT?! Adult life, hello! I even looked at apartments and I’ve totally got this down. The one thing I’m missing is a job. Casual. I’m working on it, ok? Get off my back.

2. Barre3
Ok, so techincally it’s been 2 weeks since my last class; I’ve been busy. But I get points for buying a pilates ball and light weights to use at home. Anyway, these classes are Hell on Earth in the best way possible. Barre3 (a company founded by Sadie Lincoln) is a combination of Barre (ballet), pilates and yoga and gives you a killer overall body workout.

With Sadie’s method, the first 30ish minutes of the class is cardio-based and actually makes you want to die. I cursed my nutritionist the whole time for suggesting I take this class. But the last 30 minutes were actually quite delightful, in a painful, my-ass-may-fall-off kind of way. It’s more pilates based, which means the moves are more concentrated and slow and you do a million reps using only your body weight (or light 1-3lb weights for arm work). Still death-based, but a nice cool down from the cardio.

Overall, these classes kick ass. Madonna goes to them, so you know they have to be good. To find a studio near you, check here. Can’t find one? Sadie also offers classes online to do at your own discretion so you can sweat peacefully from the comfort of your home.

1. ELITE DAILY PUBLISHED MY ARTICLES!
Literally can’t even belive life right now. I know it’s like not that big of a deal, but shut your face because I think it is! So far Elite has published 2 of my articles (here and here) as of July 10, and I can only hope they continue to do so. Also, they denied one of my articles and I was really happy about it because I didn’t think it was very well written when I sent it in, and now I know that they don’t just accept whatever is sent to them. My second article got 7k shares and I’m so happy because 7,000 people liked my article enough to share it with their friends. Someone even posted a “rude” comment, so like, I also have haters. I’m loving every second of this…

I also post each of my articles (published or not) on my other blog (which I changed the name/url to) at Stop Irritating Me.

3. New Blog
I’m almost 25 and I have no idea what my “passion” in life is. No idea. However, I’ve recently been trying to figure out what it is that I genuinely enjoy doing, and writing is one of those things. I’m by no means a fantastic writer, but I think that the more you write, the better you can become (aka what every single person in writing tells you). So in addition to this blog- that I always forget to write in- I’ve started another at morewritingroom.wordpress.com (creative, right?) where I’m going to write more freely with no set genre. Some posts are short and might just be something that I wanted to tweet but 140 characters just wasn’t enough, and some are a little more detailed. It’s basically all over the place. Regardless, I’m hoping that it helps improve my writing and maybe become a “thing.” Who knows.

2. Orange is back
Don’t act like you’re not excited. I don’t care if you haven’t even seen the first 2 seasons. I know you’re all just as psyched as I am. It’s been a loooong year and waiting for this new season did NOT help, but all will be well on June 12. Netflix will once again be unleashing 14 new episodes that I will try to watching in increments, but will most likely binge-watch in 2 days and then be left hanging, alone again. BUT I did just read an article that Netflix has already confirmed a 4th season, so all hope is not lost!

3. New Music
twitterI’ve been a little off my music-game for a while, so I’m listening to new albums a little late. Whatever, at least I’m doing it now. So yes, when I finally got around to listening to Drake’s “If You’re Reading This it’s Too Late” in April (it debuted in February, but probably leaked much earlier) I tweeted every lyric like I was the first person to ever discover him. It was magical for me. Thankfully, I was reminded that I need to get my shit together and get on top of all the albums that were/are dropping. Here’s what I’m listening to right now:

And I’ll never get over how amazing Tay Swift’s new video of the remixed version of “Bad Blood.”

3. Blogging (I didn’t forget about you)

OH HEY THERE! First let me apologize (to all of my like, 5 followers) for forgetting about this blog. Life has been a little hectic this past month: I went on vacation to PR (so fabulous), I was very busy at work, and, um, I took a LOT of naps.  I honestly don’t have any good excuses, except for the fact that I’m a little lazy sometimes (always), but I’m working on it! I also need to make my life more exciting so I can have something to write without you (again, the 5 of you) thinking that I’m a complete loser, as opposed to just a regular loser.  I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again, I WILL try to post more and make things more interesting. I will also tell you this: I tried to have someone (my stepdad-who is reading this) take some photos of me in a fab outfit that I was wearing, thinking I could have a little of my own fashion here…yeah it just didn’t work. Had I, say, my own photographer, then maybe things would have worked out (also if I had ANY modeling skills), alas you won’t be seeing any of my outfits that would prompt a two-syllable damn (probably from myself…).

(Just like Lily’s dress on “How I Met Your Mother,” duh)

2. Puzzling
Saying that my memory is bad is an extreme understatement, e.g. saying that Beyonce is a mediocre performer. I will actually forget what I am talking about mid-sentence. It’s baffling and people tend to think that I’m just not paying attention or even listening to them. While sometimes that is the case, there are times where I really just don’t remember. To combat this I constantly carry around a notepad just to write things down. The point of this pity-party is to tell you that my mother suggested I try different ways to challenge my brain in order to strengthen my memory.  Since I’m too cheap to pay for Luminosity.com, I decided I would try old school puzzles.

While in Target or AC Moore or some shit, I took a look at my options and realized that I had no idea how big a 500 or 1000 piece puzzle was. I decided “go big or go home” and went with 1000 piece.  Let me just tell you: that’s a BIG ASS puzzle! Of course I chose one of Cinque Terre, Italy, aka 100 of the same color houses on a cliff that is surrounded by water, which is basically all the same color. It’s just great.  Even with the help of my stepfather, I can’t help but get extremely frustrated. I actually started to have minor panic attacks while working on it. I wouldn’t come to the dinner table, I went to bed at 1am and still continued to think about it until about 2am. I guess my perfectionist ways don’t really help when doing a puzzle. Hopefully it helps with my memory, because if not, this will go down as a terrible, terrible time in my life. With all of this, just remember: 1000 pieces is a shit ton of extremely tiny pieces, and at all costs, avoid puzzles with water or similar-colored everything.

1. Summer**
Thank Yeezus that the summer heat is finally here (as I look out the window, only to see it pouring rain).  While it has been a tad rainy these past few weeks, the afternoons have been fabulous! I’m big on laying out, so I’m very proud of my bronzed-goddess-ness right about now.  I DO use sunscreen; I’m not promoting tanning for hours at a time (although I used to be guilty of it).**  After traveling to Australia where the sun is deadly (literally-skin cancer is the number 1 killer), I learned the importance of sunscreen, even when it’s overcast.  All in all, I love a good tan because it makes me look less ghost-like and sickly. It also makes it kind of, a teensy, tiny bit make it look like I have abs (which I most DEFINITELY do not).

You should NEVER use a tanning bed to achieve your golden glow. I used to frequent the tanning salon like it was second home, and I was unfazed by the constant warnings I heard on the news. I eventually came to my senses and realized how dangerous these UVA and UVB rays are. Indoor tanning increases your risk of getting skin cancer by 75%. No glow is worth all of that damage!

Have fair skin or want an out-of-the-sun fix? Try a spray tan (I’ve heard great things) or a tanning lotion like Jergens Natural Glow . They have a bunch of other great products on the web to help you achieve the perfect glow for your skin type! But hey, if you can rock the fair-skin look, YOU GO! I wish that I could, but seriously, I look like I’m dying.

**Note: I used the picture of “Tan Mom” out of humor. I find what she “allegedly” did (taking her five-year-old into a tanning salon) to be extremely horrible and disturbing.  I am not trying to promote unhealthy tanning of skin, as I know the extreme dangers of skin cancer. I do my best to protect my skin, and I suggest you do too. SPF 30+ is the greatest protection and should be reapplied ever 2 hours (every 30 minutes if you’re active). Please be safe in the sun and remember that your skin will be thanking you when you’re older and your skin doesn’t look like an old leather couch!

3. Remembering that I have a Blog

THIS EXISTS? Who knew, right?  I’ve been super busy with my extremely long holiday break from work that has been filled with way-too-long naps, shopping, eating and cocktails with friends.  But hey, I’m back and that’s all that matters.

2. The Holidays Being Over

I love the idea of the holidays and the actual holiday (Christmas, NYE, etc.), but I hate what they entail.  I’m not big on being forced to sit around a table with my extended family to gossip about who’s in prison, pregnant (again) and what I’m doing with my life.  Look, I have no idea what I’m doing with my life- I’m 22 and my parents still pay for my gas, so please stop asking.  Also, NYE can blow me.  Plans always get effed up and you end up at some random kid’s house with 20 people you don’t know drinking wine out of a plastic cup.  Sure I could have just stayed in and probably have a better time, but I needed an excuse to wear my new backless romper and hot pink Kate Spade bag.  Sometimes we have to make sacrifices.  Whatever.  I’m just beyond happy that I can wipe this fake ass smile off of my face and get on with 2013.  See ya 2012, it’s been a shit show and I’m glad you’re over.

1. New Years Resolutions

Without question the most corny of my Top 3, but I’m not even the least bit sorry that I love making New Years Resolutions.  Why start changing your life around randomly when there is a set day that things are “supposed” to change along with the date?  I’m a little late on making my resolutions this year (usually I figure them out towards the end of December), but I’m chronically late for life, so I’ll just chalk it up as one of my many flaws.  Here’s a working list of some things I hope to complete and/or pursue in 2013:

  • Volunteer- Something that I used to do all the time and have since gotten “too busy” to do.  While I may have a rough exterior, I have always had a soft spot for helping others in need.  Weather it be working at a local soup kitchen or volunteering at the Red Cross, I hope to do something at least once a month (got the idea from this Thought Catalogue article)
  • Find the Gym- I know this is on everyone’s list, but I don’t want to go to lose weight (while that would be a welcomed outcome).  I always enjoy going to the gym, it’s just the process of getting there that actually kills me
  • Go to a Shooting Range- I’m all for gun control, but I think it would be bomb as hell to learn how to shoot one
  • Travel to a New Country- traveling is one of my favorite hobbies, but it’s a little difficult when you are a poor 20-something.  Which brings me to my next goal:
  • Save up!!- I’ve been doing a pretty good job of this for the past 6 months and I would like to see that effort continue. I know I need to let myself splurge every once in a while, but saving up to do bigger and better things in the future will be way better than those gorgeous pair of shoes that “I must have”
  • Read for Leisure- Another thing that I have been getting better at, but I want to continue to work on.  I have a tendency to stop reading books when I get bored and completely forgetting about them.  I need to fix that
  • Spend more time doing things I enjoy, even if it means doing them along- I love seeing movies, going out to eat, grabbing a drink (or two) after a rough day at work, but sometimes people are too busy with their own shit to join me.  So I’m going to (attempt to) throw caution to the wind and head out solo.

There are plenty more where that came from, but I don’t want to bore you any longer.  One of my biggest goals is to REALLY keep up with this blog.  I tend to get distracted very easily and forget things, and I don’t want that to happen to this!  Here’s hoping!
