5 New Products to Review!

It would be an understatement to say I enjoy shopping. Not just for clothes, either – I just recently moved so I’ve been big into purchasing items for storage, decorative pieces, and boring stuff like a microwave and, ya know, groceries. These are some of my new purchases and my current thoughts on them.

Crystals

crystals

In my last post, I talked about how I was trying to get into the crystal game because I wanted to see what all the hype was about from my hippie friend (still love you, Claire!). I purchased Black Tourmaline, Citrine, and an assortment called the New Beginnings Crystal Healing Kit which contained Green Aventurine, Crystal Quartz, Green Calcite, Kyanite, and Howlite, which are all supposed to help bring peace, creativity, and protection (among other things) to a new home. I followed all the directions on every website I used to research these crystals and “cleansed” them by burning sage around them (there are other ways to cleanse), and “setting intentions” for each one. While I felt super weird sitting in my apartment and doing all this, I did feel a sense of calmness. It’s only been about two weeks, and I’m still not sure if I believe all the hype, but I can’t really knock it until I truly try it!

Glossier Invisible Shield SPF 35

I typically only use SPF on my face in the summer (I know, I know, I should use it everyday), but I wanted to test this one out on my face to make sure it didn’t break me out and I could return it. So I’ve been using it every morning for about a week and haven’t had any breakouts! Major shock since just about every SPF moisturizer I’ve tried out there messes with my skin. The only downside I would say is that the container/amount of product is much smaller than most SPF moisturizers and there is no way to tell how much is left in the bottle, potentially leaving you in a sticky situation during a spontaneous beach trip. All-in-all, I’d recommend!

Trilogy Rosehip Oil

After (another) glowing recommendation from my friend after seeing amazing results on her skin, I decided to purchase some organic Rosehip oil to work into my skincare routine. I’ve been using it for about two weeks now as a sole moisturizer (after toner) in the AM and under my Glossier Priming Moisturizer Rich in the PM for some extra love. This is the first oil that I’ve used on my sensitive skin that hasn’t made me breakout so it’s a win in my book! All I can say is that I see the glow in my face my friend was talking about!

Nike Air Force 1 High

I just copped this kicks last Saturday whilst roaming the city in the gorgeous 80 degree weather. I initially went into the store to ask about the Fila leggings I’ve been dying for, but sadly they didn’t have my size (but I found them online!). Naturally I browsed the store after my upsetting realization and came across these beauties. After sending multiple pictures to my friends and getting (some) stamps of approval, I took the leap and handed over my credit card. First impressions: I love the olive color and the Velcro strap (tied in the back) and they are super comfortable!

Lo and Sons Catalina Deluxe Weekender Bag

Ok so, I didn’t necessarily just get this item, but it’s definitely worth talking about. In an ideal world, I would own a fabulous LV duffel and look as chic as possible at the airport or on short trips. However my bank account will not allow it. BUT Lo and Sons has got me covered on an amazing bag. Their most popular item, the Catalina Deluxe Bag, has just about everything you want, and then some. There are pockets galore on the front, back, and inside, and on some sizes (I have the large version) there is a bottom compartment that is perfect for shoes and/or makeup/accessory bags. I have to say it’s been a life-saver on quick trips to NYC or when I need to schlep all my laundry home to my parent’s house. Compare sizes here and see which one best fits your needs!

Top 3: This Week’s Must-Haves

3. Lizou Jewelry

Lizou

I came across the Lizou Jewelry Instagram page after they liked one of my photos and I got lost in their feed for about 15 minutes. Inspired by French and California vibes, this company has numerous (and moderately-priced) collections to choose from, including wraps, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and more. I’m especially privy to the wrap collection because the bigger the wrist-game, the better.  This bracelet and this necklace/bracelet especially caught my eye due to the gorgeous color combos. I’m guilty of wearing all black to just about everything, but I can definitely get into an accessory with a pop of color. I highly suggest checking out the site here for a closer look into this trendy line.

2. Black Tourmaline

I’m new to crystals and the belief behind them. After hours of extensive research (yes, hours) on crystals to protect, bring creativity, and shield negative energy, I came across black tourmaline, among others. I was specifically drawn to this crystal due to it’s protective and grounding properties to keep away negativity, suppress anxiety, and bring on calmness. I purchased six stones to place around my apartment in order to keep a safe space for myself and leave my life stressors at the door (or so I read somewhere on the internet). I also bought a necklace with the stone to keep toxic energies away from myself through my day and protect from the anxiety I experience everyday. While I’ve only just set up my crystals around my house, I have high hopes of what they will do in the future.

1. Fila Everthing

On my way back to my apartment after buying a few bottles of Prosecco, I noticed the store window of a trendy street wear/sneaker store and the mannequin caught my eye. She (it?) was decked out in Fila, but more specifically these Fila leggings that I now must have in my closet. (These are also pretty sick.) I recently purchased the classic Disruptor 2 sneakers and re-fell in love with the brand. I’m big on Adidas and Nike, but I wanted to branch out into more old school brands like Fila and the now-popular Champion. With the love of my recent purchase, I definitely see more Fila gear coming into my life.

3. Air Jordans

While wondering about the shopping mecca that is lower Manhattan after a #basicbrunch with friends, I stumbled upon the haven of footwear and fashion: Kith. I nearly tripped over myself while crossing Lafayette when I realized the store of my dreams was right in front of me. I follow Kith (and Kith Women) religiously on Instagram but never imagined I’d end up at one of their locations.

In a word, it was glorious. The never-ending wall of sneakers is what initially caught my eye and I immediately began grabbing shoes to hand over to the sales associate in hopes they had my size. Unfortunately for ME, my average-size 7s were sold out and are most likely on the feet of someone way cooler than me. I reached for my phone only to find out they were sold out on the website as well. Sadly, these kicks are just a pipe dream at this point, but that won’t stop me from checking the site once a week…

2. Gucci Belt Bag

Gucci street wear can be found on just about every celebrity and fashion blogger on Instagram and I am HERE for it! I caught the Gucci bug on my latest solo-trip to Paris and purchased this beauty among numerous other items that I could not (and still can’t) afford. I never thought I’d see the day when fanny packs were back in fashion, but I definitely don’t hate it. This chic little “belt bag” is the perfect size to fit a phone and small wallet while also creating the convenience of not having to physically carry anything on your shoulder. Plus it holds up your pants. Win-win all around if you ask me. I hope this trend continues so I can save up enough money to get on board.

1. Red Leather Jacket

I have never been a fan of red on me since I have some red undertones in my skin, but I’ve been stepping out of my comfort zone recently and purchased my favorite red track pants from the new adicolor collection by Adidas (read more about the launch on HypeBeast).

In the past six months I have bought red sunnies from Amazon, a red peacoat, and a Louis Vuitton bag with red interior. Needless to say, I’m hooked. A red leather jacket is the only thing left on my list. While this Saint Laurent biker jacket is slightly out of my price range, I was able to find a few others that are more budget-friendly from Barneys New York, Saks, and Nordstrom Rack.

Happy Shopping!
