3. 25 Is Quickly Approaching
Um, I’m 100% not ready to be 25 years old. I can’t even clean out my coffee mug at the end of the day; how am I supposed to be a real person? With this new found knowledge that my birthday is in less than 3 weeks, I’ve decided that I want to attempt to get my shit (semi) together. I made a budget. WHAT?! Adult life, hello! I even looked at apartments and I’ve totally got this down. The one thing I’m missing is a job. Casual. I’m working on it, ok? Get off my back.

2. Barre3
Ok, so techincally it’s been 2 weeks since my last class; I’ve been busy. But I get points for buying a pilates ball and light weights to use at home. Anyway, these classes are Hell on Earth in the best way possible. Barre3 (a company founded by Sadie Lincoln) is a combination of Barre (ballet), pilates and yoga and gives you a killer overall body workout.

With Sadie’s method, the first 30ish minutes of the class is cardio-based and actually makes you want to die. I cursed my nutritionist the whole time for suggesting I take this class. But the last 30 minutes were actually quite delightful, in a painful, my-ass-may-fall-off kind of way. It’s more pilates based, which means the moves are more concentrated and slow and you do a million reps using only your body weight (or light 1-3lb weights for arm work). Still death-based, but a nice cool down from the cardio.

Overall, these classes kick ass. Madonna goes to them, so you know they have to be good. To find a studio near you, check here. Can’t find one? Sadie also offers classes online to do at your own discretion so you can sweat peacefully from the comfort of your home.

1. ELITE DAILY PUBLISHED MY ARTICLES!
Literally can’t even belive life right now. I know it’s like not that big of a deal, but shut your face because I think it is! So far Elite has published 2 of my articles (here and here) as of July 10, and I can only hope they continue to do so. Also, they denied one of my articles and I was really happy about it because I didn’t think it was very well written when I sent it in, and now I know that they don’t just accept whatever is sent to them. My second article got 7k shares and I’m so happy because 7,000 people liked my article enough to share it with their friends. Someone even posted a “rude” comment, so like, I also have haters. I’m loving every second of this…

I also post each of my articles (published or not) on my other blog (which I changed the name/url to) at Stop Irritating Me.

3. New Blog
I’m almost 25 and I have no idea what my “passion” in life is. No idea. However, I’ve recently been trying to figure out what it is that I genuinely enjoy doing, and writing is one of those things. I’m by no means a fantastic writer, but I think that the more you write, the better you can become (aka what every single person in writing tells you). So in addition to this blog- that I always forget to write in- I’ve started another at morewritingroom.wordpress.com (creative, right?) where I’m going to write more freely with no set genre. Some posts are short and might just be something that I wanted to tweet but 140 characters just wasn’t enough, and some are a little more detailed. It’s basically all over the place. Regardless, I’m hoping that it helps improve my writing and maybe become a “thing.” Who knows.

2. Orange is back
Don’t act like you’re not excited. I don’t care if you haven’t even seen the first 2 seasons. I know you’re all just as psyched as I am. It’s been a loooong year and waiting for this new season did NOT help, but all will be well on June 12. Netflix will once again be unleashing 14 new episodes that I will try to watching in increments, but will most likely binge-watch in 2 days and then be left hanging, alone again. BUT I did just read an article that Netflix has already confirmed a 4th season, so all hope is not lost!

3. New Music
twitterI’ve been a little off my music-game for a while, so I’m listening to new albums a little late. Whatever, at least I’m doing it now. So yes, when I finally got around to listening to Drake’s “If You’re Reading This it’s Too Late” in April (it debuted in February, but probably leaked much earlier) I tweeted every lyric like I was the first person to ever discover him. It was magical for me. Thankfully, I was reminded that I need to get my shit together and get on top of all the albums that were/are dropping. Here’s what I’m listening to right now:

And I’ll never get over how amazing Tay Swift’s new video of the remixed version of “Bad Blood.”

Sweet baby Yeezus I can’t believe I haven’t written anything since May!
Mind you, I wasn’t doing anything more important or exciting, I was simply being lazy. Oh well. I wanted to do a post about the Golden Globes, but it’s been 6 days and I’m over it. Everyone looked fabulous, except for Jane Fonda (We get it, you’re 77 and look great. Stop dressing like a slut) and my girl Lana (Mermaid chic is NOT a thing) and Keira Knightly and Rosamund Pike…ok a lot of people looked like shit, but you can do your own researching if you need hard evidence (E!Online, Celebuzz). Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Also, George Clooney’s speech was perfection and I almost cried. Ok I’m done. Onto the Top 3…

3. Great Movies
So this kind of has to do with the Golden Globes…Oh well. SO MANY MOVIES!! It’s like Oprah was giving away screen plays in 2014 (more like 2012 when production started) and brilliant actors were getting their shit together. Unfortunately I haven’t seen most of this year’s nominations/winners because I’ve been too busy watching Criminal Minds and starting projects that I don’t plan on finishing. Fortunately this gives me something to do for the next few weeks (days) and I can make some use out of On Demand (sorry about the charges mom) and my Regal Crown Club card that I have zero understanding of. Which ones am I most excited to see? Boyhood looks amazing and I love Ethan Hawke, plus Richard Linklater spent 12 years producing the film so it deserves to be watched by everyone. I’m also excited about Wild, Birdman, Saint Vincent, Selma, The Theory of Everything, Cake, Inherent Vice…ok I basically want to see all of them. There’s also a lot of new movies coming out in theaters soon that I need to see like American Sniper. I know what I’ll be doing for the rest of this disgusting winter.

2. Makeup (it’s not so scary)

I’ve always been one of those girls who didn’t really wear makeup, aside from the occasional mascara or lipstick. Before you roll your eyes, let me state that this is not one of those “oh I just don’t need makeup because my face is perfect and life is fabulous” situations. Not even close. I just never knew how to do it. I once wore blue eyeshadow to school when I was 13. Needless to say, I was scarred. I guess the wound has healed because as of late I’ve really been getting into the whole looking-presentable-for-life thing. Hours and hours of Youtube videos later (seriously, there are SO many about makeup) I started to attempt to create a “look” for myself. I’m still working on it, baby steps ok? But as of right now I’m working on brown eyeliner (more natural look) pressed into my lash line, filling in my brows and using a highlighter. It’s all I can handle right now and I think I’m doing pretty well if I do say so myself. Meaning, no one has given me the look of death…yet.

1. My Shows Are Back
I hate, no, I ABHOR the fact that cable tv shows go on hiatus during the holiday season. Sorry but I really don’t want to hang out with my family and I’m not working, so this would be the PERFECT time to air new episodes. Apparently I’m the only one who thinks so. Alas, the holidays are over and my shows (most of them) are back. I have New Girl, Mindy, About a Boy, MasterChef Jr. and Parks & Rec (FINALLY) back on Tuesdays (thank Yeezus for DVR); Criminal Minds, Modern Family, Workaholics and Broad City on Wednesdays; Thursdays are for DVR’d shows; and Shark Tank to wrap up the week on Friday! Even the weekends keep me going with SNL on Saturday (duh) and Girls on Sunday night. All is good again. And it’s nice to have something new to look forward to besides sleep…

3. Fish-ish
So, I meant to post this a few weeks ago when I decided to go out and purchase some fish! I had googled “small pets” and obviously some crazy animals came up that I had never even heard of, but I went for the less interesting route and chose fish. I found all these articles about how calming they are, blah blah blah. Hey, who couldn’t use a nice calming pet that requires *LITTLE* maintenance? So I up and went to my local PetSmart and harassed one of the workers into spending an hour with me to explain how to care for fish. Yeah, not so easy to own fish, but I overestimated my dedication and purchased 4 fish and a massive tank. For the next 3 hours I half-assed setting up the tank with semi-distilled water and skimming through the information packets. Pssh, I got this.
The first few days were filled with joy. I fed my four lovely fish, named them and stared at them for minutes on end. What a great purchase! Unfortunately those were the only days filled with excitement. About 10 days into owning my little buddies, I woke up to a very odd sight. I found one fish dead (poor little Flower) and three new fish. I was living in a Dr. Seuss book. I guess it’s true that with death comes birth, or whatever that saying is.
So etcetera, etcetera, days go by and the tank gets dirtier because I don’t know how to clean it, especially with three baby fish swimming around. So we come to yesterday. At this point I had lost two fish, but still had five, which was still more than what I started with. Go me. I finally decided that I needed to clean the tank because one of the fish was on it’s death bed and I wanted to be it’s Guardian Angel. Instead I became the Grim Reaper. Oops. Again, I half-assed cleaneing the tank with semi-distilled water and hoped for the best. I got the worst. Within the hour of me scooping out the water and putting the new water in, I had killed all five fish. All of them. Every single one. My Dr. Seuss book came to a sad and scary end, not suitable for children.
Basically, owning fish sucks unless you have dedication or can hire someone to do all the work for you. The little bit of relaxation I experienced was NOT worth the pain and stress of knowing that I had to eventually clean the tank (aka kill everything). On the plus side, I now have a 10-gallon tank that I can use as another way to clutter my room.

2. Spring is Springing
handsSpring has not “officially” sprung, but it’s in the air; it’s coming.  Apparently Mother Nature didn’t get the note that spring was supposed to start on March 20 because we were granted two more days of debilitating snow. It’s like winter would never end. But this morning when I checked the weather I was given hope that it WAS going to end. The next week shows temperatures in the high 50’s and 60’s and compared to what we’ve had, that is extremely warm! Joy to the Northeast! I am SO beyond excited to whip out my tees and open-toed pumps and tuck away my disgusting winter coat and wool scarves. I’ll most definitely do a post on my new spring favorites and it will be obnoxiously long. While summer is my absolute favorite season because of the heat and going to the beach, the fall and spring will always be my favorite in terms of fashion. Nothing is better than jeans and a tee. I’m too excited.

1. Being Active

I’ve decided that with the new weather coming, I want to start getting outside more. I tend to be a slight homebody, especially in the winter (aka I don’t leave my house. Ever.) and I really think that needs to change. Honestly, I’m 23. I need to get the hell out of the house. It’s borderline embarrassing. Enter my main problem: what am I going to do? I’ve come up with a few ideas, some more realistic than others (I need to stop thinking that I’m going to go for a run) and I’m excited to try some of them out. I’m excited most about attempting to hike. In my mind, hiking means following a well-defined trail in the woods of my local park. I feel like that’s baby-hiking. I need like, adolescent-hiking. Note that I 100% have no idea how I’m going to go about this. I’ll probably get back into my baby-hiking and try to progress from there. We’ll see. This could just be another thing that I start and end within a week. Hopefully not, but only time will tell. I have my fingers crossed that I’ll come across someone that is an obsessed hiker that will help me become a little more coordinated and knowledgable about how to not twist my ankle the second I step onto an uneven surface.
